Fix#954, which went stale 6 years ago and which I have now reopened. The `setLocale` method in `Calculation` and `Settings` does not affect the 3 localizable properties in `StringHelper` - `currencyCode`, `decimalSeparator`, and `thousandsSeparator`. One way to work around this problem is to set those properties separately; this is probably how most people handle it. Another way is to call Php's own `setlocale` function; this does not require any foreknowledge of what the values need to be, but it comes with baggage (data is maintained at process level rather than thread level), so its use is discouraged.
This PR adds a new `setLocale` method to `StringHelper`. It sets the 3 properties and the `Calculation` language all at once. It depends on the `Intl` extension, which is a recommendation but not a formal requirement for PhpSpreadsheet; the method will return `false` if `Intl` is not available or it thinks the supplied locale is not valid.
Php8.5 *may* deprecate the use of `__wakeup` (it is planned, but not yet implemented, and it is convtroversial). We use it only twice. In the first instance, it just throws an exception to prevent a security exploit. This can be trivially replaced with `__unserialize`.
The other instance is merely to initialize a Worksheet instance variable. Converting this use to `__unserialize` is *not* trivial (one of the reasons for the controversy). However, I see no useful purpose for that variable. Since it has no use, there is no real need for `__wakeup`, so we will just remove the routine altogether, and deprecate the variable's getter (there is no setter).
A similar instance variable in Spreadsheet also serves no useful purpose, so we will deprecate its getter as well (again no setter).
With PhpUnit 10 came the ability to use Php attributes rather than doc-block annotations for things like "data provider". PhpUnit 11 deprecates the use of annotations, and PhpUnit 12 will not not permit their use. Since PhpUnit 11 requires Php8.2+, we cannot adopt it as long as we support Php8.1, which will continue to be the case for some time. However, there is no penalty for early adoption.
Php-cs-fixer can use:
```
'php_unit_attributes' => ['keep_annotations' => false],
```
This allows us to run `composer fix` to automate all the needed changes. No manual changes were needed for any of the test members.
With this change, PhpUnit 9 can no longer be used with the test suite. File composer.json is updated to reflect that reality, and phpunit9.xml.dist, which has been supplied in case anyone needed to use PhpUnit 9, is no longer required, and is thus deleted. For now, PhpUnit 11 is not being added as a possibility.
No source code is changed in this PR.
Fix#3999. Fix#4000. Fix#4002. Several bug reports and feature requests for Xml Reader arrived practically simultaneously. They are all small and hit the same code modules, so I have bundled them together in one PR.
- `loadSpreadsheetFromString` might try to open a file with a falsy name (like '0'), which results in an exception with a misleading message (or a completely unexpected result if a file with that name exists). Code will still throw an exception, but the message will no longer be misleading, and no file I/O will be attempted.
- function `trySimpleXmlLoadString` is deprecated. It should never have been implemented with public visibility, and the fact that it was made the fix above a little more difficult than it would otherwise have been. It is replaced with a private equivalent.
- Style reader function `parseStyles` will now use a better namespace-aware method of reading its Xml data. Peculiarly, the Xml for the Style elements can either include or not a namespace prefix. This is probably because the global namespace and the styles namespace are the same. The existing prefix-based code does not recognize their equivalence, but the new namespace-based code does. Xml Reader continues to use prefix-based code in several other places.
- Border line styles with Weight omitted or equal to 0 have been treated as no border, but they should be treated as 'hair' thickness.
- Support for Zoom is added to Xml Reader.
- In support of the above, new properties (and getters and setters) zoomScalePageLayoutView and zoomScaleSheetLayoutView are added to Worksheet/SheetView. (As far as I can tell, Excel does not support Sheet Layout View for Xml spreadsheets).
- Support is added for those new properties in Xlsx Reader and Writer.
- Xls Reader and Writer seem to work okay without changes. There is one test where Xls shows a different value for one of the properties than Xml or Xlsx, but the spreadsheet looks okay and I don't see any practical consequences of the difference.
- PageBreak support is added to Xml Reader.
- Code for writing out Column Page Breaks in Xlsx Writer was wrong (and, unsurprisingly, untested). A one-line change fixes it, and tests are added.
Because they tend to clutter our code a lot and unfortunately, there are
lots of false positives. Instead, it would probably be better to deal
with false positives out of band, via the Scrutinizer web UI.
While we might never be able to have 100% of our code strict, we can at
the very least do it for all of our tests. This ensures that our tests
are using our API with the types as intended by the test author, and not
silently be cast to what our API requires.
* PhpUnit 10 Compatibility Part 1
This is not a change to move to PhpUnit 10. There is no compelling reason to do so at this time, although it is bound to happen eventually. There are a staggering number of problems (somewhere around 3,000) with the current test suite under PhpUnit 10; this is an attempt to get ahead of the curve by addressing them now.
Method `setOutputCallback` has gone away. This affects only Helper/SampleTest. It appears that `ob_start` and its allies provide an effective equivalent. FWIW, the absence of `setOutputCallback` is a good indication of whether or not PhpUnit 10 is in use, and I will use that fact in a few tests.
Class `ComplexAssert` with no constructor, and always used with `new ComplexAssert()`, extends `TestCase`. Apparently, the constructor for TestCase requires an argument, and PhpUnit 10 complains about not supplying one. Adding an empty constructor to ComplexAssert avoids this problem.
There are two very minor source changes, to Calculation/Calculation and Reader/Xlsx, where problems were exposed with PhpUnit 10 that had not been previously been exposed. AFAIK, these are the only source changes required; the rest of the changes are to test members.
The bulk of the problems are because PhpUnit 10 insists that provider methods be static. Most of those can be changed by a script without any further action; those changes will constitute the Part 2 counterpart of this PR. In this PR you will find the exceptional cases that can't be automated for one reason or another. The tests for Database functions have mild complications that are easily handled. Most of the other provider changes in this PR are because the method names didn't follow an established pattern ('provider' isn't part of the method name); those are also easily handled manually. Modifying the following tests provided significant challenges:
- Writer/Xls/WorkbookTest testAddColor
- Worksheet/Table/TableTest testSetRangeValidRange
The handling of warning messages issued by the code differs in PhpUnit 10. According to the change log, "This means that using PHP functionality which triggers E_DEPRECATED, E_NOTICE, E_STRICT, or E_WARNING or calling code which triggers E_USER_DEPRECATED, E_USER_NOTICE, or E_USER_WARNING can no longer hide a bug in your code." To me, the effect of that change seems to be exactly the opposite - such messages were available to the test with PhpUnit 9 (so we could test for them), and are no longer available (so we can't). I haven't even succeeded with a custom error message handler as part of the script. I will continue to investigate, but, for now, will skip some tests under PhpUnit 10 for the following:
- Shared/OleTest testChainedWriteMode and testChainedBadPath
- Reader/Html/HtmlLoadStringTest testLoadInvalidString
- Reader/Html/HtmlTest testBadHtml
* Scrutinize, and Parent Construct
Parent construct suggested by @MarkBaker.
* Redo Tests Dependent on Warning Messages
Warning (and other) messages are handled differently in PhpUnit 10 than in earlier versions.
Reduce number of Phpstan messages by addressing their issues. Reader/Ods will require a separate ticket. Reader/Xls will require many separate tickets.
These changes have already been implemented twice, and been regressed twice. I'll try once more (with a different approach), then give up ...
As configured, Phpstan running under Php7 reports no errors. However, running under Php8, it reports 100 (!) errors. The vast majority of these are due to two reasons:
- renaming parameters in Php builtin functions in preparation for named parameters.
- using the new class GdImage rather than type resource as the argument type for many image-based functions.
Regardless of the cause, this will be a problem sooner or later. This PR is an attempt to get ahead of that problem. For source members, it mostly adds annotations or updates doc-blocks. Only 2 members have changes to executable code, and these are very minor - BitWise and Writer/Xlsx. For test members, all baseline errors are deleted and the code is fixed. Php7 and Php8 both report no errors with this configuration.
* Improving Coverage for Excel2003 XML Reader
Reader/Xml is now 100% covered.
File templates/Excel2003XMLTest.xml, used in some tests, is *not*
readable by a current version of Excel. I have substituted a new file
excel2003.xml to be used in its place. I have not deleted the original
in case someone in future (possibly me) wants to see what it needs to
make it usable.
There are minimal code changes.
- Unused protected functions pixel2WidthUnits and widthUnits2Pixel
are deleted.
- One regex looking to convert hex characters is changed from a-z to a-f,
and made case insensitive.
- No calculation performed for "error" cell (previously calculation
was attempted and threw exception).
- Empty relative row/cell is now handled correctly.
- Style applied to empty cell when appropriate.
- Support added for textRotation.
- Support added for border styles.
- Support added for diagonal borders.
- Support added for superscript and subscript.
- Support added for fill patterns.
In theory, encodings other than UTF-8 were supported.
In fact, I was unable to get SecurityScanner to pass *any* xml which is
not UTF-8. Eliminating the assumption that strings might not be UTF-8
allowed much of the code to be greatly simplified.
After that, I added some code that would permit the use of
some ASCII-compatible encodings (there is a test of ISO-8859-1).
It would be more difficult to handle other encodings (such as UTF-16).
I am not convinced that even the ISO-8859 effort is worth it,
but am willing to investigate either expanding or eliminating
non-UTF8 support.
I added a number of tests, creating an Xml directory, and moving
XmlTest to that directory.
Pull Request had problems reading old invalid sample in the code
coverage phase, not in any of the other test phases, and not in
the code coverage phase on my local machine.
As it turns out, aside from being invalid, the sample
is much larger than any of the other samples. Tests have been
adjusted accordingly.
* Smaller Test File
Should eliminate need to avoid test during xml coverage.
* Break Up Style Test into Multiple Tests
Per suggestion from Mark Baker.
* Integrate AddressHelper Change
The introduction of AddressHelper introduced a conflict which needed to
be resolved. I wanted to test it locally before resolving. This required
me to add (unchanged) AddressHelper to my local copy. I hope this is
an okay manner of resolving the conflict.
* Weird Travis Error
XmlOddTest works just fine on my local machine, but Travis failed it.
Even worse, the lines which Travis flags don't even make any sense
(one was the empty line between two methods!).
This test is not essential to the rest of the change. I am removing
it from the package, and will attempt to re-add it when I have a chance
to sync up my fork with the main project.
