xannyprox 2c4faa535d [Perf] Optimize DefaultValueBinder formula detection with dedicated CalculationParserOnly singleton 2026-01-16 20:25:11 +03:00
xannyprox 2c087ead2a Optimize formula detection in DefaultValueBinder by reusing Calculation singleton
While reviewing the DefaultValueBinder::dataTypeForValue() method, I noticed that a new Calculation instance is being created for every single cell validation.

Since the Calculation class is quite heavy (initializing components like CyclicReferenceStack and BranchPruner), instantiating it repeatedly causes unnecessary memory and CPU overhead, especially during bulk imports of large spreadsheets.

Changes:

    Switched from new Calculation() to Calculation::getInstance() to leverage the existing singleton.

    Added state preservation logic for branchPruning to ensure the shared instance remains consistent for other parts of the application.

    Wrapped the logic in a finally block to guarantee that the pruning state is restored regardless of success or failure.

No changes were made to the public API, so this is fully backward compatible. I've also added a unit test to verify that formula detection and state isolation work as expected.

Tests:

    Added tests/PhpSpreadsheetTests/Cell/DefaultValueBinderTest.php.

oleibman e92b538efa Strings That Look Like Huge Floating Point Numbers
Fix #4776. DefaultValueBinder treats strings that look like scientific notation as floats. However, if Php evaluates them as `INF`, this can cause problems for Excel. A one-line change to DefaultValueBinder avoids this situation. Tests are added for DefaultValueBinder, and also for StringValueBinder and AdvancedValueBinder, although those extend DefaultValueBinder and needed no code changes.

oleibman d647fe7ee7 Use Php Attributes Rather than Annotations for PhpUnit
With PhpUnit 10 came the ability to use Php attributes rather than doc-block annotations for things like "data provider". PhpUnit 11 deprecates the use of annotations, and PhpUnit 12 will not not permit their use. Since PhpUnit 11 requires Php8.2+, we cannot adopt it as long as we support Php8.1, which will continue to be the case for some time. However, there is no penalty for early adoption.

Php-cs-fixer can use:
```
'php_unit_attributes' => ['keep_annotations' => false],
```
This allows us to run `composer fix` to automate all the needed changes. No manual changes were needed for any of the test members.

With this change, PhpUnit 9 can no longer be used with the test suite. File composer.json is updated to reflect that reality, and phpunit9.xml.dist, which has been supplied in case anyone needed to use PhpUnit 9, is no longer required, and is thus deleted. For now, PhpUnit 11 is not being added as a possibility.

No source code is changed in this PR.

oleibman 85c1512b67 Better Definitions for Mixed Parameters and Values Part 3 of Many
Continuing work started with PR #4016 and PR #4026. Improve documentation within program by making explicit what types of values are allowed for variables described as "mixed". In order to avoid broken functionality, this is done mainly through doc-blocks. This will get us closer to Phpstan Level 9, but many changes will be needed before we can consider that.

This change has more executable code changes than its predecessor. I will wait longer than normal before merging it to allow for additional testing.

oleibman d0fae3f57a Eliminate Some Phpstan Annotations (#3746)
* Eliminate Some Phpstan Annotations

Some changes are possible due to Php8+ features like null-safe operators and Stringable.

* Possible Uninitialized Variable

Scrutinizer might be technically correct.

* CellAddress Static -> Self

I don't understand the use case for extending it, which would be the reason for using static rather than self.

* Update Worksheet.php

Adrien Crivelli ec4098c8fd Strict mode for all tests
While we might never be able to have 100% of our code strict, we can at
the very least do it for all of our tests. This ensures that our tests
are using our API with the types as intended by the test author, and not
silently be cast to what our API requires.

Adrien Crivelli 1b05dfab8b Rector AddParamTypeBasedOnPHPUnitDataProviderRector
And quite a bit more manual changes. The idea is that typing of our
tests can be a bit more loose, so we assume PHPDoc is mostly correct. If
that happens to be wrong, it should be caught by the tests themselves.

oleibman e9cf27354d PhpUnit 10 Compatibility Part 2 (#3526)
Successor to PR #3523. There are 494 single-line changes (`public function provider` to `public static function provider`) in this PR. None of these were made manually; they were all created with the following script (adapted from
https://stackoverflow.com/questions/25909820/how-to-recursively-iterate-through-files-in-php):
```php
$dir = 'C:/git/unit10prep2/tests/PhpSpreadsheetTests';
$it = new RecursiveDirectoryIterator($dir);
// Loop through files
foreach(new RecursiveIteratorIterator($it) as $file) {
    if ($file->getExtension() === 'php') {
        $contents = file_get_contents($file);
        $new = preg_replace('/public function (\\w*)([Pp])rovider/', 'public static function $1$2rovider', $contents);
        if ($new !== $contents) {
            echo "changing $file\n";
            file_put_contents($file, $new);
        }
    }
}
```

After this PR, there will be one more, with a small number of test changes, and enabling PhpUnit 10 for Php 8.1+.

oleibman ffdae8efac Update Some Doc Block Annotations (#2351)
* Update Some Doc Block Annotations

See PR #2010. That PR was never completed, and has gone stale. However, it was correct in identifying a situation where the doc block was not entirely accurate. It did not go far enough - several closely-related methods have similar problems. This PR attempts to fix the original problem and its close relations. Aside from the doc block changes, there are very minor changes to executable code. It also changes some of the unit tests targeted at the methods in question to eliminate mocking in favor of 'real' tests.

* Change Method to Static

Otherwise Scrutinizer will complain, even though Phpstan doesn't.

* Scrutinizer

Various clean-up activities.

* Scrutinizer

@#&$(*#&$ Got complexity down from 53 to (I think) 50. Don't really know what the target is.

* Code Changes Suggested By Review

Some improvements suggested in review by @PowerKiKi.

* Update Cells.php

* Merge Conflict

A change to a parameter name caused several problems when trying to fix it on Github. Fixing it locally should do the trick.

* Merge Conflicts in Phpstan Baseline

PR #2382 made a large number of changes to Phpstan Baseline, some of which conflicted with the Phpstan Baseline changes in this PR. This should resolve them all.

Gabriel Caruso aed27a0bed Use PHPUnit\Framework\TestCase instead of PHPUnit_Framework_TestCase (#271)
Use the `PHPUnit\Framework\TestCase` notation instead of `PHPUnit_Framework_TestCase` while extending our TestCases. This will help us migrate to PHPUnit 6, that [no longer support snake case class names](https://github.com/sebastianbergmann/phpunit/blob/master/ChangeLog-6.0.md#changed-1).
