Dealing mostly with mixed variable type. In a great many cases, problems can be resolved replacing `getValue` with `getValueString` or `getCalculatedValue` with `getCalculatedValueString`.
With PhpUnit 10 came the ability to use Php attributes rather than doc-block annotations for things like "data provider". PhpUnit 11 deprecates the use of annotations, and PhpUnit 12 will not not permit their use. Since PhpUnit 11 requires Php8.2+, we cannot adopt it as long as we support Php8.1, which will continue to be the case for some time. However, there is no penalty for early adoption.
Php-cs-fixer can use:

This allows us to run `composer fix` to automate all the needed changes. No manual changes were needed for any of the test members.
With this change, PhpUnit 9 can no longer be used with the test suite. File composer.json is updated to reflect that reality, and phpunit9.xml.dist, which has been supplied in case anyone needed to use PhpUnit 9, is no longer required, and is thus deleted. For now, PhpUnit 11 is not being added as a possibility.
No source code is changed in this PR.
When String Value Binder converts a numeric value to text, the resulting spreadsheet will be full of little green triangles to indicate to the end user that something might be wrong. It is unlikely that a spreadsheet created in this manner needs that visual clutter. This PR adds a property and setter (I can't really think of a good use case for a getter) to suppress it. Suppression should arguably be the default, but, for now, I will avoid any BC problems by leaving non-suppression as the default.
The latest release seems to not want you to give a class element both a Php type and a doc-block type. I used the "fix" operand to delete the redundant doc-block declarations, with no other changes. So there should be no change to executable code.
Till now we have used a static variable/getter/setter to decide what type of result should be returned when a formula is evaluated and an array is the result. This is messy; it would be much better to use an instance variable instead. We cannot eliminate `setArrayReturnType` and `getArrayReturnType` because that would be a BC break. I am considering whether they should be deprecated. In the meantime, I have added a new instance property `instanceArrayReturnType` with getter and setter methods. The property is initially null, and, if it remains so when needed, the static property will be used instead. However, if it is set, its value will be used.
Fix#1310, which was closed as stale in 2020, but which I will now reopen. Supersedes PR #1311 (@jaiminmoslake7020), from which I will remove the stale label but leave closed. The issue and the PR were too limited - they detected that the use of two equal signs at the start of a string made for an invalid formula, but there are variations, trivial and otherwise, which might also be detected. Using `setValue` with a string which starts with an equal sign will now attempt to parse (not evaluate) the formula; for certain situations in which the parser throws an exception, the string will be treated as a string rather than a formula. An example where it will still be treated as a formula is a 3D range reference, where the problem is not that it can't be parsed, but rather that the formula isn't supported (see unit test Calculation/Engine/RangeTest::test3dRangeEvaluation). Allowing such a formula might cause problems later on, but that is already what happens.
A string beginning with an equal sign but which isn't treated as a formula will automatically set the `quotePrefix` attribute to `true`; all other `setValue` attempts will set it to `false`. This avoids the problem of a lingering value causing problems later on.
It has long been a matter of discontent that setting a style can change the selected cells. A new method is added to `Worksheet`:

```
This will attempt to guarantee that the active sheet in the current spreadsheet, and the selected cells in the current worksheet, remain undisturbed after the call. The setting of `quotePrefix` above is the first use of the new method.
SINGLE function can be used to return first value from a dynamic array result, or to return the value of the cell which matches the current row (VALUE error if not match) for a range. Excel allows you to specify an at-sign unary operator rather than SINGLE function; this PR does not permit that.
Add support for reading CSE array functions for Gnumeric.
Throw an exception if setValueExplicit Formula is invalid (not a string, or doesn't begin with equal sign. This is equivalent to what happens when setValueExplicit Numeric specifies a non-numeric value.
Added a number of tests from PR #2787.
Continuing work started with PR #4016 and PR #4026. Improve documentation within program by making explicit what types of values are allowed for variables described as "mixed". In order to avoid broken functionality, this is done mainly through doc-blocks. This will get us closer to Phpstan Level 9, but many changes will be needed before we can consider that.
This change has more executable code changes than its predecessor. I will wait longer than normal before merging it to allow for additional testing.
While researching another problem, I noticed that font color was not working as expected for Xls Conditional Formats, at least not when a "non-standard" color is used. In such cases, the color might wind up being rendered as black. The reason is as follows. Xls Writer includes a color palette which is dynamically generated from the (non-Conditional) styles used in the workbook. Any colors used in the workbook are indexes to this dynamic palette. However, Conditional colors use a static palette found in class ColorMap to determine the index, so the determination of index will often not find a match, and, if a match is found, it is not necessarily correct. (Also, the ColorMap method was case-sensitive and needs to be insensitive.)
In order to correct this, the `addColor` method in Xls Writer Workbook needs to be accessible to the Conditional logic which is found in Xls Writer Worksheet. This is accomplished by passing the Workbook in the Worksheet's constructor, and changing the method to public, and changing Conditional Font to use this method rather than ColorMap.
The logic for Conditional Fill colors is similarly changed. Although Xls Conditional Fill has appeared to just not work, I was finally able to figure out the problem. Excel Xls Conditional Fill with fill type Solid requires that the fill color be specified as startColor, and that endColor be omitted. Our conditional samples used endColor, and are now changed to use startColor instead; the same is true for our online documentation, and for some tests. Xlsx continues to work as expected, and now Xls does at least some of the time. If the condition is one that Excel Xls does not recognize (e.g. cell contains), it will, of course, not work. A surprising situation that also doesn't work is the use of ISODD or ISEVEN in formulas. Those are "add-in functions" which are handled differently than other functions, and I'm not sure how to support them. I will document this in issue #3403.
Samples 08_Conditional_Formatting(_2) had produced corrupt Xls versions. This turned out to be because the code was using hash codes to avoid having to write out duplicate conditionals; this is often a good idea, but not in this case. Allowing the duplicates fixes the corruption problem.
Conditional Border colors also ought to figure in this change, but the current code does not support Border colors, and I have not yet been able to figure out how to implement it (BIFF format can be very messy to figure out).
With this change, I could delete ColorMap altogether. However, it is a public class with a static public method, so maybe someone is using it for a purpose I'm not familiar with. I will just deprecate it.

Executable code change is to add 2 new methods to Cell - `getValueString` and `getCalculatedValueString`, which are the same as the methods without the String suffix, except that they always return a string result. These are invoked at several places in the code where it makes sense, in particular by Writer code.
Change "mixed" declarations to more accurate types in test members; in particular, change those that would be flagged if we were to run Phpstan at level 9 (we currently run level 8). I may or may not follow up with source code (over 700 level-9 problems remain for src), but, as with strict typing, there is no reason to avoid the effort for test members.
It was necessary to update some doc blocks in src to accommodate this change. However, no executable code is touched.
This was suggested by the investigation of issue #3811. No fix is necessary for the issue. However, two possible code solutions (Php setlocale, which comes with certain design flaws, and StringHelper set(Decimal/Thousands)Separator were suggested, and neither is adequately tested. This PR adds such tests.
Unusually, getting StringHelper Decimal Separator, Thousands Separator, and Currency Code can result in a change to those properties. So, the existing design in several tests where those properties are captured in Setup and restored in Teardown do not work quite as designed. Instead, the ability to set those properties to their default value (null) is added, and the tests re-done to restore the default in Teardown.
The two methods yield the same results when parsing input. However, they diverge when examining output fields through `getFormattedValue`. Such output is currently correct (usually) when using setlocale, but not when using StringHelper. The former works through the 'trick' of using `sprintf(%f)`, which generates a locale-aware string. However, using non-locale-aware `sprintf(%F)` followed by `str_replace` will produce the correct result for both setlocale and StringHelper. One place in the code uses a cast to string, which is incorrect for both methods. Following that up with the same str_replace makes it correct for both. These changes permit, but do not require, the user to avoid setlocale altogether.
It remains an open question whether Settings/Calculation::setLocale should set DecimalSeparator, CurrencySeparator, and CurrencyCode. That makes logical sense, but it would be a breaking change, and having to explicitly set those values when using setLocale does not seem especially burdensome. For now, such a change will not be made.

Fix#3711. User set a cell value to float (implicitly by default value binder), then used `setDataType` to change its type to string. This caused a problem for Xlsx Writer, which uses the string cell values as an index into a Shared String array. However, as the cell actually contained a floating point value, Php treated it as an integer index; such a treatment is both deprecated, and leads to invalid values in the spreadsheet.
The use case for `setDataType` is not strong. The user always has the option to use `setValueExplicit` if the type is important. Setting a type afterwards, i.e. irrespective of the value, seems like a peculiar action. Indeed, there are no tests whatever for such use in the unit test suite.
There are two possible approaches to fixing this problem. The first is to add casts to the 3 or 4 places in Writer Xlsx which might be affected by this problem (hoping that you've found them all and realizing that similar changes might be needed for other Writers). The second is to change `setDataType` to call `setValueExplicit` using the current value of the cell, thereby possibly changing the cell value. I have gone with the second option - it seems like a much more logical approach, and guarantees that the content of the cell will always be consistent with its declared type. It is, however, a breaking change; if, for example, you have a cell with a string or numeric value and specify `boolean` to `setDataType`, the cell's value will change to `true` or `false` with no way to get back to the original.

While we might never be able to have 100% of our code strict, we can at
the very least do it for all of our tests. This ensures that our tests
are using our API with the types as intended by the test author, and not
silently be cast to what our API requires.
And quite a bit more manual changes. The idea is that typing of our
tests can be a bit more loose, so we assume PHPDoc is mostly correct. If
that happens to be wrong, it should be caught by the tests themselves.
PR #3513, developed by @SaidkhojaIftikhor, has been stuck for some time awaiting tests. This is the first of three PRs to replace that one. This PR also allows the use of slash as a thousands separator or decimal separator or currency symbol. These are, of course, very unusual situations; the main reason to support them is so that PhpSpreadsheet code will not crash when users set those options. New Calculation/Engine and AdvancedValueBinder tests confirm these. While making these changes, a few errors were found in AdvancedValueBinder and Calculation/Engine/FormattedNumber, e.g. currencies weren't parsed correctly when period was used as the group separator and comma as the decimal separator. Tests have been added for those situations.
Successor to PR #3523. There are 494 single-line changes (`public function provider` to `public static function provider`) in this PR. None of these were made manually; they were all created with the following script (adapted from

After this PR, there will be one more, with a small number of test changes, and enabling PhpUnit 10 for Php 8.1+.
* PhpUnit 10 Compatibility Part 1
This is not a change to move to PhpUnit 10. There is no compelling reason to do so at this time, although it is bound to happen eventually. There are a staggering number of problems (somewhere around 3,000) with the current test suite under PhpUnit 10; this is an attempt to get ahead of the curve by addressing them now.
Method `setOutputCallback` has gone away. This affects only Helper/SampleTest. It appears that `ob_start` and its allies provide an effective equivalent. FWIW, the absence of `setOutputCallback` is a good indication of whether or not PhpUnit 10 is in use, and I will use that fact in a few tests.
Class `ComplexAssert` with no constructor, and always used with `new ComplexAssert()`, extends `TestCase`. Apparently, the constructor for TestCase requires an argument, and PhpUnit 10 complains about not supplying one. Adding an empty constructor to ComplexAssert avoids this problem.
There are two very minor source changes, to Calculation/Calculation and Reader/Xlsx, where problems were exposed with PhpUnit 10 that had not been previously been exposed. AFAIK, these are the only source changes required; the rest of the changes are to test members.
The bulk of the problems are because PhpUnit 10 insists that provider methods be static. Most of those can be changed by a script without any further action; those changes will constitute the Part 2 counterpart of this PR. In this PR you will find the exceptional cases that can't be automated for one reason or another. The tests for Database functions have mild complications that are easily handled. Most of the other provider changes in this PR are because the method names didn't follow an established pattern ('provider' isn't part of the method name); those are also easily handled manually. Modifying the following tests provided significant challenges:
- Writer/Xls/WorkbookTest testAddColor
- Worksheet/Table/TableTest testSetRangeValidRange
The handling of warning messages issued by the code differs in PhpUnit 10. According to the change log, "This means that using PHP functionality which triggers E_DEPRECATED, E_NOTICE, E_STRICT, or E_WARNING or calling code which triggers E_USER_DEPRECATED, E_USER_NOTICE, or E_USER_WARNING can no longer hide a bug in your code." To me, the effect of that change seems to be exactly the opposite - such messages were available to the test with PhpUnit 9 (so we could test for them), and are no longer available (so we can't). I haven't even succeeded with a custom error message handler as part of the script. I will continue to investigate, but, for now, will skip some tests under PhpUnit 10 for the following:
- Shared/OleTest testChainedWriteMode and testChainedBadPath
- Reader/Html/HtmlLoadStringTest testLoadInvalidString
- Reader/Html/HtmlTest testBadHtml
